Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I support you?

Where ever you decide you want to deliver your baby I will be there for you:

  • Hospitals

  • Homebirths

  • Birth Centers

  • Virtual Services

I plan on having a Cesarean, I won't need a doula

A C-section is still a birth! You will still be birthing your baby and I will still be there to physically support you and emotionally support you and your partner. Sometimes doulas and partners are both allowed in the delivery room for c-birth.

I plan on having an epidural, should I still consider a doula?

Just because you plan to have an epidural doesn't mean you shouldn't hire a doula! There are plenty of comfort measures we can still do from your hospital bed. I can help by leading a guided meditation, or help with light touch massage.

Studies have also shown that having a doula during your birth can decrease the use of an epidural and other pain medications.

What are the benefits of having a birth doula?

I am trained in evidence-based information and advocacy for you and your family. I will be able to help you make informed choices that are right for you. Other benefits are:

  • reduced use in medicine and Pitocin

  • the reduced outcome of a c-birth

  • family support and bonding

  • increased movement during labor

  • comfort and reassurance for you and your partner

  • shorter labor

  • vaginal outcome
